The united Swallow Club Annual Meet for 2012 A Bob Benson Memorial was held in Des Moines, Iowa in conjunction with the Iowa State Pigeon Fanciers yearly show.
This year we wanted to remember Bob Benson who passed away early in 2012. Bob was the grand master of blue and silver checkered swallows. We had 19 silver or blue checkered swallows in the show to honor Bob. I believe all of the checkers shown were in some way related to Bob Benson's birds. His birds have now been distributed throughout the United Swallow Club membership: Thanks to Mike Swanson and Gloria Weisgram.
Gloria Weisgram is to be commended for organizing the show memorializing Bob. She pulled together many resources, awards and did much of the display work for the show.
The Iowa State facility is a woncerful show hall with excellent light, high ceiling and plenty of space. Many of our top breeders and fanciers attended and a good show was had by all who came.
